HE HISTORY OF SUGARING
A hair removal technique using only natural ingredients and no chemicals.
The sugaring method of hair removal has
been around for many hundreds of years, its birthplace being in North Africa.
Without the modern facilities of showers and baths that we take for granted
today, women had to find ways of improving their personal hygiene. They
discovered that without pubic and armpit hair, they felt much cleaner and their
skin felt so smooth. A woman would be expected to remove all areas with the
exception of her hair on her head, eyebrows and eyelashes. They also discovered
that with regular treatments, the regrowth was weakening and diminishing until
eventually, some women had no hair left. Having watched her mother removing
hair for many years, Zahra Benamor decided to develop this product further,
exploring all areas of the skin. She found that a paste, made from sugar, lemon
juice and water, had amazing results all over the body and she started to
market this product locally. It was not long before this product was all over
the world.
The Treatment
At the beginning of your first treatment,
you will have a consultation to make sure that there are no reasons as to why
you cannot be treated. All information given to me will of course be
confidential and will remain so. You will be asked to remove only clothes that
relate to the treatment requested.
The skin will be prepared for treatment by
thoroughly cleansing and drying with a super fine talcum powder which allows
the skin to be dry whilst the hair is standing up. The warm sugar paste is
applied by hand and gently rubbed into the skin. It is also removed by hand
instead of strips used by traditional waxing treatment, removing all unwanted
hairs and dead skin cells in the process. Once the area has been cleaned down
with a sterile wipe and moisturised, it will feel beautifully soft and gentle.
You are asked not to put on any deodorant
or moisturisers prior to your treatment, as this can affect the effectiveness
of the paste.
The method is a very thorough treatment and
can be used on all skin types. Because the paste is applied by hand on a talced
area, the paste sticks to the hair and not the skin, thus making it much less
painful than the traditional wax treatments available.
With regular treatments, (and no shaving in
between), the regrowth is much finer and the density will lessen in time. All
follow up treatments will be easier to treat and with far less discomfort. I
can guarantee your skin will never have felt better.
